Implementation Guide

The following topic describes how to configure TrackStudio.

We recommend that you complete the following steps to use TrackStudio for issue tracking:

  1. Login as itadmin/itadmin.

 

 

  1. Use the Current User -> Users List... -> Create a User pulldown to create user accounts for your developers, testers, and customers.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Subtasks... -> Create a Project or a Task pulldown to create your project hierarchy.

 

  1. Login as root/root.

 

 

  1. Use the Current User -> User... -> Change Password link to change the root's password.

 

  1. Use the Current User -> Users List... menu item to choose jsmith's account and use the Edit link to deactivate it (all subordinated accounts will be deactivated automatically).

  1. Use the Current User -> Users List... -> Create a User pulldown to create a managed administrator.

 

  1. Click the Change Password link to set the password for the managed administrator.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Subtasks... -> Create a Project or a Task pulldown to create the root folder for your projects.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Access Control Rules... -> Assigned Statuses -> Grant Access pulldown to give the managed administrator permission to manage your projects.

 

  1. Login as the managed administrator.

 

 

  1. Use the Current User -> Statuses... -> Create a Status pulldown to create user groups and set permissions for each user group.

 

  1. Use the Current User -> Users List... -> Create a User pulldown to create user accounts for your developers, testers, and customers.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Workflows... -> Create a Workflow link to create workflows for your projects and bugs. Set workflow permissions for your user statuses.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Categories... -> Create a Category link to create categories for your projects and tasks. Set category permissions for your user statuses.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Subtasks... -> Create a Project or a Task pulldown to create your project hierarchy.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Access Control Rules... -> Assigned Statuses -> Grant Access pulldown to allow your users to view projects and submit bugs.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Custom Fields... -> Create a Custom Field and the Current Task -> Workflows -> Custom Fields -> Create a Custom Field pulldowns to create custom fields for your projects and bugs.

 

  1. Use the Current Task -> Filters... -> Create a Filter link to customize task filters.

 

  1. Login as root/root.

 

 

  1. Use the Current User -> User... -> Change Password link to change the root's password.

 

  1. Use the Current User -> Users List... menu item to choose jsmith's account and use the Edit link to deactivate it (all subordinated accounts will be deactivated automatically).

 

  1. Use reporting to manage project resources and analyze what work has been completed and what work remains to be done.
